Supademo Review: The Best Budget-friendly Interactive Product Demo Software?

You need interactive demo software to create demos that can fuel interest in your product at the early stage of the buyer’s journey.

And that’s where Supademo comes in.

But how well do Supademo’s features help you create interactive demos?

Supademo is a relatively new player in the demo space, and I’ve taken it for a ride to see its capabilities.

Without further ado, let’s dive into this Supademo review.

How Supademo works

Supademo is a no-code interactive demo software tool that helps SaaS startups create demos for their products in minutes.

Through the Supademo extension, you can capture the product pages you want to include in an interactive demo.

Once you capture these pages, you can then connect them and add annotations to form a single interactive demo.

With interactive demos, you get many use cases in your marketing campaigns. For example, you can use them on your homepage, knowledge base pages, or even blog posts.

Again, this is a way to fuel Product-led growth in your marketing campaigns.

When I see a product like Supademo, I see an opportunity for you to market your product, onboard new users, and support users more effectively.

Now, let’s see Supademo’s key features and how you can use them to create interactive product demos.

Supademo key features

Showcases

Sometimes, a single demo is insufficient to explain an aspect of your product. For example, tutorials to explain how to use your product features will require several demos.

Supademo Showcases lets you group your demos according to use cases.

So, I believe you can use Showcases for processes like:

  • Product tutorials in the Knowledge base
  • Onboarding new users
  • Onboarding new employees
  • Sales demos

All you have to do is create demos and then add them to sections in your Showcase.

While it keeps your demos easy to navigate, it also works well if you work with team members.

So everyone knows where to find a demo when they need it.

Supademo Showcases let you organize your demos for an easier workflow and better collaboration.

Customization

My first impression of the customization options is that they’re pretty basic.

So, don’t expect anything extraordinary.

The software allows you to change the hotspot and navigation settings. You can also upload a demo share page logo and edit the share page button.

The Customization feature provides some basic options to brand your demos.

Analytics

Supademo analytics will show how people engage with your demos and what you need to change.

In the analytics section, you can see the total views, unique views, engagement, and CTA engagement.

The CTA engagement is the percentage of uniques who clicked on your CTA button.

Demo analytics on Supademo

You can view analytics for all demos when you click “Analytics” at the left sidebar.

If you’re viewing a specific demo, you’ll find analytics for that demo if you click the analytics icon at the top right corner of the page.

I’d have loved to see how viewers navigate or drop off at each step of the demo.

For example, a step with a high drop-off can tell you a lot about your demo or even your product feature in that step.

Autoplay

Normally, interactive demos are structured in such a way that viewers can navigate them at a convenient pace.

They can click through the steps to examine your product interface.

But if you want your demo to play like a video, you can switch on the Autoplay feature.

Supademo Autoplay lets you set the duration between each slide. Beyond that, you can activate the loop to play your demo continuously.

So, this can work if you want to display the demo for a tutorial.

Start Overlay

An overlay at the beginning of your interactive product demo sets the tone for the viewer’s experience.

Supademo allows you to add a heading, description, and button text to your start overlay.

If I’m using this, I’d use the overlay to summarize what viewers should expect from the demo.

Take time to create an overlay that will entice viewers to go into the demo.

CTA

Think about it.

Your interactive demo has impressed your viewer, and they’re already thinking about how your product will help their company.

So, what next?

This is where the CTA (call to action) comes in.

You can prompt your viewer to register for a free account, free trial, or book a live demo.

Supademo lets you add a CTA at the end of your demo.

This CTA can help you move prospects to the next stage in the buyer’s journey in a short time.

Collaboration

Supademo allows you to add team members to your workspace.

When you add these team members, you can set permissions for what they can do in your demos.

You get 3 permission levels:

  • Admin: an admin can manage the workspace. They can also create, edit, and share Supademos.
  • Creator: a creator can create, edit, and share Supademos.
  • Viewer: a viewer can view and share Supademos for free.

Once you enter your team member’s email address and set their permission, send an invite link to them.

This can come in handy if you create demos with other colleagues or work for clients.

Supademo use cases

While Supademo works for creating interactive product demos on your website homepage, it’s useful for more tasks in your sales and marketing efforts.

Here are common Supademo use cases to get better marketing results:

Product marketing

In most cases, software users have to get to the latter stages of the buyer’s journey before even seeing what a product looks like.

At this point, through a live demo or free trial, the prospect may decide your product isn’t the right fit for them.

With interactive product demos, you can easily weed these people out early.

Supademo lets you create Interactive product demos that show prospects how your product solves problems.

So, most prospects already have an idea of how your product feels before speaking with a sales rep.

You can also create engaging product updates to drive the adoption of new features.

Sales enablement

Supademo lets you create interactive product demos that ensure most people who talk to sales reps are already qualified.

Beyond that, you can send personalized interactive product demos to sales leads after a live demo call.

They can share demos with team members before making the final purchase decision. Or share with external decision-makers.

Customer success

From time to time, users may face problems while using your product.

Guided tutorials in your knowledge base can show users how to solve problems. This also works when chatting with a user who needs a solution.

Onboarding

Right from signing up, you want users to get value from your product. That is, you want them to reach the “Aha” moment.

Interactive onboarding product tours can take new customers through how to execute the most important tasks.

In the same way, you can use interactive product tours to get new employees up to speed with your processes.

How to create an interactive product demo with Supademo

Before creating an interactive demo with Supademo, you first have to capture your product.

And there are two approaches to this.

First, you can use the Supademo Chrome extension. Supademo will prompt you to download it once you sign up for the platform.

After setting up the Chrome extension, navigate to the product you want to capture.

Now, you only have to click on the Chrome extension and then “Start recording.”

Start recording with Supademo Chrome extension

Supademo will capture your product page every time you click an element.

Once you’re done with your recording, click on the extension at the top right corner of your browser and click “Stop recording.”

Doing this will save your demo recording to your Supademo account.

I think this is the easiest option.

In contrast, the second option involves taking screenshots of the product pages you want to use for your demo.

Then, you can upload these images into Supademo.

After doing this, you can now edit your demo in the Supademo editor.

Supademo demo editor

If you used the Chrome extension to capture your product, it will add hotspots to your click points automatically.

A hotspot is a point where a demo viewer has to click to navigate to the next step. You can also add an annotation to this hotspot to explain what the step is all about.

However, if you want to add a hotspot to a particular button or element in the Supademo editor, just double-click the spot.

Add hotspot annotation in Supademo editor

Beyond adding the hotspot, you can write your annotation right away.

You can follow this process for all the product pages in the demo. You also have the option to reorder the pages if needed.

Ensure you use a single hotspot and annotation for a single slide to make navigation easier. If you want to have 2 or more prompts on a page, you can easily duplicate a slide in the Supademo editor.

Also, Supademo lets you edit each page using annotation, redaction, and crop tools.

Edit image in Supademo editor

For instance, you can use the redact feature to blur out a section of your product page if you want to hide it from the public.

You’ll also find the start overlay and end CTA useful. The start overlay provides an introduction before the viewer launches into the demo.

The end CTA lets you state an action you want the viewer to take.

End CTA settings on Supademo

You can edit the headings, description, and button text. There’s also a box for the page link you want the viewer to visit after your demo.

Although I’d have loved to be able to insert CTAs in the middle of the demos, I couldn’t find a way to do that.

Moving on, you can also access the autoplay and Customization settings.

Once you finish editing your demo, check out its preview before sharing it with prospects.

Next, you can now share your interactive demo with your audience.

Share Supademo interactive demo

Supademo allows you to copy a link to your demo, embed code, and download it as a video or GIF image.

Here’s a SweepWidget demo I created. It shows how to create a giveaway on the contest software:

Of course, this is not a professional job. But I spent only a few minutes creating this.

If you spend a few more minutes on it, you can get really great results.

Create a Showcase

To create a Showcase, click “Showcases” at the left sidebar of your Supademo dashboard.

On the next page, click “+ Create showcase.”

Create a showcase and edit title in Supademo

You can add as many sections as you want for your showcase. After doing that, the next thing is to add demos to each section.

Supademo makes this easy, as you can search your demos right in the showcase.

After completing your showcase, you can always refer to or even improve it.

Conclusion

In the interactive product demo category, Supademo is a new player. So, there’s still a lot of room for many changes in the product.

Do I think it’s for every SaaS company?

No.

If your SaaS company has a tight marketing budget and still needs to showcase your product to potential buyers, Supademo is one of your best choices.

However, if you need sophisticated interactive product demo software, no matter the cost, you can check out competitors like Walnut or Navattic.

In a nutshell, Supademo provides most of the important features you need to create interactive product demos for your SaaS product.

So, it works for most companies.
