If you’re trying to decide between Loomly and Vista Social, you’ve come to the right place.

I’ve tested both tools extensively to see what they offer to users.

I tested a similarly priced plan to compare what you get at that price point.

There are some similarities between the two products, but where do they differ?

I’ll explore both similarities and differences.

And by the end, you’ll have enough information to pick one of the social media management tools.

Loomly vs Vista Social: an overview

While Loomly and Vista Social have similar features, I think their features are targeted at different customer groups.

I’ve tested Loomly’s Beyond plan, which costs $332 monthly, and Vista Social’s Scale plan, which costs $379 monthly.

Loomly

When you land on Loomly, the interface looks simple.

But within this simplicity, I found many features that any user would find useful for managing social media activities.

Loomly has a simple composer where you can get ideas, generate posts with AI, and promote posts on social media.

But beyond scheduling, Loomly also has features like collaboration and listening to help you work with a team.

Based on my experience testing it, I think Loomly is better suited to social media managers who work with multiple clients and accounts.

Vista Social

While Vista Social looks a bit more complicated than Loomly, this may be a byproduct of its more extensive features.

For example, you’ll find features like employee advocacy, review management, and automations, which are absent on Loomly.

Personally, I had no issues navigating Vista Social, but some users have complained about a steep learning curve.

That said, the extensive feature set makes Vista Social suitable for agencies, companies, or anyone who needs an all-in-one social media management tool.

Here’s a table rating how Loomly and Vista Social compare on important features:

Features

Scheduling

Loomly

Loomly has two steps to schedule posts in the post composer.

In the first step, you’ll add the general information about your post. This includes your caption, profiles, media files, and labels.

Generic content in Loomly

Then, you can get ideas and create captions or images. One thing I like about the image generation is that Loomly uses your brand colors.

You can also write messages to the AI assistant to change parts of your image.

One notable thing here is that X is missing. Although, to be fair, many social management tools are having issues with X API costs.

That said, you need to keep this in mind if you want to use Loomly.

After building the general post, the second step is to customize it for each selected social media network.

customize Instagram post in Loomly

You have unique settings for each network, including the option to boost posts with an ad account.

Loomly also provides optimization tips based on best practices for each social media network.

After creating the post, you can save it as a draft, schedule it, or send it for approval.

Overall, the composer makes it easy to schedule your posts.

Vista Social

On Vista Social, the post composer has all the steps in a single place.

You can select profiles and profile groups you want to publish to.

One thing to keep in mind is that X doesn’t come with the traditional plans.

If you need to publish on X, you’d have to pay for an add-on, which costs $29 monthly. Unlike Loomly, which doesn’t include X at all, Vista Social offers it as an add-on.

Then, the caption box is just beside the profiles. Here, you have options to write your caption, add media file from your computer, or upload from online storage services.

You can also generate captions, images, and videos using the AI generator.

Vista Social's AI assistant

However, the video generator still needs some work. When I used an image as a guide for the video, I couldn’t get a result.

Yet, my AI credits were depleted despite getting no result.

Apart from that, everything else worked well.

If you want employees to publish a version of this post, you can toggle on the employee advocacy switch just below the caption box.

After writing captions and adding media, the next step is to customize the post for each social media network.

Vista Social post composer

One thing I found here was that Vista Social has more unique settings for each social media network than Loomly.

For example, on Instagram, you can toggle on paid partnership, add paid partners, and auto delete the post later.

After customizing your posts, you can save your post as a draft, publish immediately, or schedule it.

If you’re scheduling the post, you have the option to send the post for approval.

Depending on how complex you want the approval process to be, you can send the post to a user or an approval workflow and leave notes.

Loomly: 4.6

Vista Social: 4.6

Reason: While Loomly’s post composer is easier to use, Vista Social offers more options when customizing for social networks.

Calendar

Loomly

My first impression of Loomly’s calendar is that it looks basic.

You’ll find a few options to organize your calendar.

First, you can flip between the list and calendar view.

Loomly social media calendar

You can also filter posts based on channel, status, label, and the person assigned to posts.

If you need post ideas, the Show Suggestion button can help with that.

However, I didn’t find options to plan Instagram or TikTok grids.

Vista Social

In Vista Social, you have many more options to organize your posts.

First, you have different post preview sizes, which let you customize your calendar.

But beyond that, you can add national, religious, and fun holidays to your calendar.

Vista Social social media calendar

If you create Instagram and TikTok content, you have planners to organize posts on the grid.

You also have the option to export or share the calendar.

One thing I also love is that you can see analytics for individual posts when you click on the post.

On this calendar, you’ll find the options you need to organize your posts.

Loomly: 4.2

Vista Social: 4.6

Reason: Vista Social offers more features to help manage and organize your posts.

Collaboration

Loomly

Loomly lets you collaborate with team members in the post composer and inbox.

For every team member you add, there are various permission levels based on their role, ranging from editor to viewer.

Invite users in Loomly

After creating posts, you can send them to team members for approval. The team member can approve or reject with additional comments.

In the inbox, you can also assign interactions to team members.

The first time I tested Loomly, there was a detailed approval workflow and collaborator roles, but I couldn’t find them this time.

That said, if you work with multiple teams or clients, Loomly uses calendars as its workspaces.

So, you’ll have to create separate calendars for your clients. Each calendar has its own features, separate from the next one.

Vista Social

Just like Loomly, Vista Social also has fewer permission options for collaborators compared to the last time I tested it.

But what do you get?

You can add collaborators and create multi-level approval workflows.

Invite new team member in Vista Social

Apart from that, Vista Social lets you collaborate with team members in the post composer, inbox, and tasks sections.

If you work with multiple teams or clients, Vista Social lets you create profile groups where you can add profiles.

Loomly: 4.3

Vista Social: 4.5

Reason: While they’ve both scaled down the number of permission options, Vista Social lets you collaborate in more areas.

Analytics

Loomly

Loomly offers analytics on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. For these platforms, Loomly provides post and page metrics.

Apart from post metrics, Loomly also provides demographic data, which gives you a sense of what your audience will relate to.

Loomly analytics

However, LinkedIn analytics is only available for company pages, unlike Vista Social, which also provides analytics for LinkedIn personal profiles.

Overall, Loomly provides the basic numbers you need to track your social media performance.

You can export and schedule reports at specific intervals.

Vista Social

In terms of analytics, Vista Social is on another level compared to Loomly, and for a few reasons, which I’ll explain.

First, Vista Social offers analytics for all the major social media networks, unlike Loomly, which only offers analytics for 4 channels.

Then, Vista Social offers more metrics for each profile.

Vista Social analytics

Another thing here is that Vista Social offers more metrics beyond your posts and profiles.

For example, you also get reports for advocacy performance, competitor analysis, inbox performance, paid performance, and more.

Then, you can schedule and create custom reports based on your preferred metrics.

Loomly: 4.2

Vista Social: 4.6

Reason: Vista Social provides more metrics and a bigger range of reports. So, it helps you track more social media performance.

Listening

Loomly

One advantage Loomly has in terms of listening is that the features are baked into the traditional plan.

However, Loomly’s social listening is restricted to Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok. In contrast, Vista Social also tracks your terms across the web.

First, you have a general listener, but you can also create listeners for specific terms.

Loomly listening

The general listener will consider the brand details you’ve provided in your Loomly account and perform a general analysis.

For example, I’ve used Nvidia as my brand, and it correctly named my competitors as Intel and AMD.

The general analysis provides details, such as sentiment, emotional breakdown, driving themes, and more.

One thing I found interesting is that the analysis goes back more than two years.

Vista Social

In the listening section, Vista Social lets you perform internal and external listening.

For internal listening, these are keywords used in your comments. If you want to quickly find negative or positive feedback from your audience, you’ll find this useful.

Vista Social listeners

For external listening, these are keywords used across web sources like social media and the web.

You can use this to track brand, competitor, and industry terms.

The external option does a more thorough search to find terms across the web.

However, it’s only available as an add-on, unlike internal listening that comes with your traditional plan.

Loomly: 4.6

Vista Social: 4.5

Reason: I’ve given Loomly a slight edge here because you get the full listening features in the traditional Loomly plans.

Note: I’ve left the inbox out of the comparison because I couldn’t get my messages and comments to show up for both tools. Only X showed up on Vista Social, but since Loomly doesn’t support X, there’s nothing to compare with. However, I was able to access the inbox during my previous tests of both tools, and I explained my findings in the Loomly and Vista Social reviews.

Other features

Loomly

Some features I’ve not covered include:

  • Ideas board: Based on your brand information, Loomly can provide many post ideas for your social media content.
  • Library: Here, you can house your media files, such as images and videos.

In terms of features, Loomly has fewer features than Vista Social.

Vista Social

Apart from the features I’ve explored, Vista Social still has more useful features, including:

  • Review management: Vista Social lets you reply to reviews on Facebook, Google Business, Yelp, Tripadvisor, OpenTable, Trustpilot, App Store, and Google Play.
  • Link in bio: If you want to drive your Instagram and TikTok audience to web pages, Vista Social lets you create a link in bio page to achieve that.
  • Automations: Vista Social has many automation options to help you create captions, images, videos, and inbox messages. You also get 25+ agents to perform multiple social media tasks.
  • Work: This section can serve as your social media task management tool. You can create various tasks, assign team members, specify dates, and move the tasks through multiple statuses in the Kanban board.
  • Employee advocacy: If you want employees to publish more content about your business, this feature helps you achieve that. You can also track how your employee advocacy performs.
Vista Social AI agents

Overall, Vista Social has more features than Loomly. If you need an all-in-one tool, then Vista Social is more likely to meet your needs.

Loomly: 3.7

Vista Social: 4.5

Reason: Vista Social provides more social media management features to make it more of an all-in-one tool than Loomly.

Ease of use

Loomly

Based on my experience, it’s easy to use Loomly.

You can find all the important features in the sidebar and navigate each one without issues.

I think anyone who can comfortably browse the web will be able to use Loomly.

Vista Social

While Vista Social is a bit more difficult to use, it’s not far off from Loomly.

Personally, I believe Vista Social’s complexity is a byproduct of its extensive feature list.

Organizing that many features is bound to introduce some difficulty in usage.

However, you’ll find most features in minutes and without issues.

Vista Social tutorial

One good thing is that Vista Social delivers a tutorial when you visit a section for the first time.

This way, you’ll see all the features you may need.

And once you get up to speed, Vista Social is easy to use as a daily tool.

Loomly: 4.6

Vista Social: 4.4

Reason: By virtue of having fewer features and an intuitive interface, Loomly is easier to navigate than Vista Social.

Loomly offers a 7-day free trial for the plans.

The issue I have with Loomly’s pricing is the steep price difference between the Starter and Beyond plans. If you want a plan in between the two, you’re out of luck.

Vista Social

Vista Social has four plans, including:

  • Professional: This plan comes with 15 social profiles, 2 users, engagement tools, reports, listening & review tools, link in bio, DM automations, and work management. It costs $79 monthly ($64 on an annual plan).
  • Advanced: This plan includes 30 social profiles, 4 users, advanced planning & workflows, advanced reporting, integrations, advanced DM automations, and advanced Vista page features. It costs $149 monthly ($120 on an annual plan).
  • Scale: This plan includes 70 social profiles, 8 users, white label setup, client profile connect, scalable AI credits, and more contacts. It costs $379 monthly ($304 on an annual plan).
  • Enterprise: This plan comes with unlimited profiles, unlimited users, sentiment detection, premium analytics, brand safety & compliance, a dedicated account manager, and custom integrations. You have to reach out to the Vista Social team with your needs.

Vista Social offers a 14-day free trial for the plans.

Vista Social pricing page

One thing I like about Vista Social’s plans is that even the lowest plan has a big feature set.

So, you’re not forced to buy a higher plan because you need an important feature.

Another thing is that, unlike Loomly, Vista Social has a middle plan ($149 monthly), which is a few steps after the first plan.

This gives you many options when scaling your business.

Loomly: 4.2

Vista Social: 4.5

Reason: Vista Social offers more value for its plans. Also, it gives more options to users at various business sizes and budgets.

Loomly vs Vista Social on G2

How do users rate both tools on critical criteria?

The first set of ratings is about qualitative measures, such as ease of use, quality of support, and more.

Loomly vs Vista Social qualitative ratings on G2.

Then, the second set of ratings compares features.

Loomly vs Vista Social features comparison on G2

While Loomly has good ratings, Vista Social beats it on every metric.

Of course, this doesn’t mean no one should use Loomly over Vista Social. But you should check out both tools to see how they compare in the areas that matter to you.

When to choose Loomly

If you’re a social media manager who focuses on creating social media posts, engaging with your audience, and tracking performance, Loomly will meet most of your needs.

This is especially true if you publish content mainly on Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok, as these channels are supported in all the main features.

As a social media manager, you can invite clients or team members and create a calendar for each client or team.

When to choose Vista Social

If you run an agency and need as many social media management features as possible, Vista Social is the best fit.

In addition, if you run a large social media team in a large company, Vista Social will be a better fit than Loomly.

With Vista Social, you’ll be able to perform many social media tasks without buying multiple tools.

Final Verdict: Loomly vs Vista Social

While Vista Social costs more than Loomly, I still think it offers better value for your money.

And the reason is simple.

Vista Social offers more social media management features than Loomly.

So, if you run an agency or a large social media team, you can offer more services or perform more social media activities with Vista Social.

Conclusion

After years of testing software products, one thing I’ve discovered is that no one tool is best for everyone.

And that’s because our needs differ.
